VENUE: The concourse at StubHub will reflect the city of Los Angeles with themed sections including Hollywood (with a book stage and song writing booth by Rock and Roll Camp for Girls), Sports (highlighting the LA Galaxy, LA Kings and LA Rams Cheerleaders, as well as plenty of field games and yoga).  Our diverse natural environment of mountains and canyons will be represented by a booth from Happy Trails for Kids, a summer camp for foster youth, and the National Park Service that will stage a fishing demo and kayaking experience. Of course, we have a lovely coastline and our So Cal beaches will be represented with a sandy play area, micro kick boards, skateboarding, and a Ferris wheel.

Now, the Reason Why:

Lou Lucido and his wife Carolyn created We Are LA as a way to support charities that help kids in Los Angeles. LA has over 34,000 non-profit organizations, but with dwindling resources and a burgeoning population, kids issues can get pushed to the side. The Lucidos created We Are LA (and are underwriting the cost of the event) to support the good works being done specifically for kids in our community. As such, the event has been designed as an engaging and interactive experience for families.

“We want to create an environment where the Los Angeles community can enjoy a day of great music and get to know the incredible children’s charities that make a positive impact where we live, work and play,” said Charissa Gonzales, We Are LA Co-founder. “Those who come are familiar with the rock stars who will perform on stage, the goal is to get them to know about the rock stars working behind the scenes for at-risk and low income children and families,” added Gonzales.

A handful of local child-focused charities are the beneficiaries of the event, including 826LA, Junior League of California, The LA Galaxy Foundation, and CASA. As the Lucidos see it, “The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and these organizations are working to give Los Angeles children the access to resources that are outside of the classroom to create a better future and to help break the cycle of poverty and the cycle of violence”.
