End January on an Art Binge!

1.26.18

There’s so much to see this weekend from an arts perspective. Here are several ideas for your weekend, including three shows that elementary and tween age kids will like on Museum Free For All on Sunday.

3 days and 3 contemporary art venues

See three sides of LA’s contemporary art scene by heading to the Santa Monica airport and then shuttling over to Venice this weekend (Friday – Sunday, Jan 25-28). If you’re looking to purchase art for your home, or just looking to learn about local artists, this is a great way to see a lot of work in a short period of time.

  1. Art Los Angeles Contemporary is at the Barker Hanger through Sunday, January 28 with galleries from around town showing off their latest and greatest and with an art activity on Sunday (see below)  Day passes are $25, or for three days you can find a deal for $30.
  2. More Art Here: Across the street from ACLA is the Santa Monica Studios which is hosting special events that run concurrently with ACLA. Free!
  3. The StartUp Art Fair is taking place in Venice at The Kinney Hotel in Venice Beach, California – artists transforming the rooms into installations and gallery spaces. General admission is $20 at the door or $15 in advance.

ART ACTIVITY ON SUNDAY from Noon-4: CoachArt is hosting hands-on art activities for ALAC visitors ages 5-16, under the generous instruction of some of L.A.’s great artists: Ry Rocklen, Rosson Crow, Channing Hansen, and The Haas Brothers. Since 2001, CoachArt has matched volunteer coaches with children impacted by chronic illness for one-on-one or group lessons in arts and athletics. Their vision is that one day every family impacted by chronic illness will be connected to a community of support and an opportunity to learn and grow together. To sign up for the workshops and for more information please email coachart@artlosangelesfair.com
