Giving Back: FarmLink

7.1.20

The stories about farmers plowing food under the ground because of supply chain failures ran concurrently with images of people in food lines during the pandemic. An intrepid crew of sidelined college kids jumped into action, forming FarmLinkProject to transport food from farms to food banks in cities around the country.

Here is a story about the project in the New York Times and here is FarmLink’s website, where you can learn more and donate. Their pitch is that every $100 donated feeds a family of four for a month.

Here they are on the Today show. For those of us stuck at home, it’s invigorating to see kids leap into action. Over 2000 other folks have volunteered and over 1M pounds of food has been delivered to those in need.
