Inspired by the musical traditions of Colombia, Haiti, Belize, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Southern California, Buyepongo fuses merengue, punta, and cumbiarhythms with hip-hop, reggae, jazz, and funk.
In 2008, a group of close friends, sharing a passion for learning about, creating, and performing music, formed Buyepongo. Since then, they have toured extensively throughout the United States and Mexico. Buyepongo is currently working on their first full-length album, Todo Mundo, and recently released the single “Maestros.” Showcasing the accordion, drum, horns, bass, and guacharaca—a Colombian percussion instrument—Buyepongo delivers irresistable dance beats that transport audiences to the tropics.
