Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and MacArthur “Genius” Award winner Katherine Boo made multiple Best Books of 2012 lists. Lawrence Wright won a Pulitzer Prize for his investigation into 9/11, The Looming Tower, and his just-released Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and The Prison of Belief is on plenty of high-powered bedside tables this month. Finally, for short story aficionados, George Saunders’ new collection Tenth of December is already being hailed as one of the Best Books of 2013.
