The Broad Stage
Charles “Lil Buck” Riley became an overnight phenomenon after his improvised performance went viral on YouTube in 2011. Astonishing everyone from Madonna to the New York City Ballet with his “elegant ripple of movement and footwork, exuberant and seemingly gravity resistant” (Wall Street Journal), Lil Buck blissfully melds ballet, hip-hop, and a Memphis dance style called jookin. For his Los Angeles stage debut, this one-of-a-kind artist shares his iconoclastic vision and performs on sneaker pointe with music by one of today’s youngest and most accomplished classical cellists, Mihai Marica.
